How to Volunteer (Individuals):

1) For a quick sign-up to volunteer at our resale shop, please click the link below. Please note volunteers must be high school age or older.
2) To volunteer on a consistent basis in the other areas of our ministry, we ask all individual volunteers to attend one Volunteer Orientation and complete a Volunteer Application. At the orientation, you will learn about our ministry and go on a tour of our facilities. Throughout the orientation we will also discuss our current volunteer opportunities (as listed in the below section) to see which available positions best fit your interests and availability. Please note individual volunteers must be high school age or older.

Upcoming Volunteer Orientations (Approximately 30-45 minutes long):
Wednesday, May 8th at 5:15pm
Wednesday, June TBD at 5:15pm (***Tentatively scheduled for June 26th. Please check back in early June for confirmation). 

***For court-appointed community service, instead of completing the steps above, you must call 281-499-8833 and ask to speak to Shay in regards to court-appointed community service.


Current Volunteer Needs:

Listed below are the volunteer positions available for individuals to fill as soon as possible. Please note that our volunteer opportunities are always changing. If our current needs do not work with your availability, please check back in a few weeks for new opportunities!

Resale Shop:

There are many volunteer opportunities at our resale shop on Monday-Saturday from 10:00am-4:00pm (and open later until 6:00pm on Wednesdays)!

Food Pantry:

  • Food Pantry Helper: responsible for bagging items of food and assisting clients by loading the food into cars
    • Wednesday (2/month): 6:00pm-8:00pm
  • Warehouse Helper: responsible for working behind-the-scenes by stocking shelves and loading trucks
    • Mondays and/or Wednesdays: 9:00am-2:00pm (for only a 3-hour shift; you can choose exact hours)
    • Fridays (2/month) from 10:00am-1:30pm


  • Receptionist’s Assistant: responsible for helping pull client files and answering phones
    • Fridays (2/month) from 10:00am-1:30pm


How to Volunteer (Groups):

For group inquiries, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Jordan Keyes, at jordan@humanneeds.org. Please note:

  • Group members must be in 5th grade or above
  • Groups are typically smaller than 15 people
  • Group opportunities at the food pantry occur Monday – Friday (small groups may be available on Saturdays at the resale shop)
  • Groups do not need to complete the orientation or application. Members must sign a group release waiver in advance or upon arrival.


Future Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers are an integral part of East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry! Each month hundreds of volunteers donate their time and talents to help our community. Our volunteer opportunities are always changing. Listed below are some additional positions at EFBHNM.

  • Fundraising: join our Empty Bowls committee
  • Special Events: volunteering at our annual Empty Bowls fundraiser, Outrun Hunger Family 5K Walk & Run,  holiday baskets, school supplies drive, etc.
  • General Ministry: helping with administrative tasks behind-the-scenes such as data entry, etc.
